Cloudy's number was 5 but the crowd had their eyes on the number 4 horse, Stormy.
'' And there off,'' the announcer yelled and the crowd screamed, eyes still on number 4. ''Stormy starts with the lead and Cloudy in 2nd. Fast thoroughbred she is. Still in 2nd and coming on strong. And at the 3/4 post Cloudy is moving up, with her jocky, Samantha Richards using no whip, but her voice. It sure looks like she's going to win this one Dave!''
''Yeah it sure does, Andy. And Stormy is pulling back and tiring fast. Cloudy is 1st and Cloudy wins!''

After bathing off the winner, Casey put on Cloudy's stable blanket and set off for the winners circle where they were awarded their prizes and of course the red roses. With a big crowd to fight, they made it and Samantha, who was walking with Casey, saw her parents sister, and many other important people standing around the circle waiting for the prizes to be awarded.
Sam's father, Peter, was the owner of Cloudy and of course one of the richest men in Kentucky.
The announcers, Steve and Dave spoke before the crowd. ''Ladies and Gentleman, this is probably the very moment you've been all waiting for!'' The crowd screamed, whistled and clapped. ''This is the 12th Kentucky Derby and our winner today at this wonderful racetrack, Church Hill Downs, is Cloudy owned by Peter and Emily Richards. And we want to award her with $50,000,a trophey and the beautiful Red Roses.''
''CONGRADULATIONS!!'' Another wild roar from the crowd and an hour later Casey and Sam were back in the stables with Cloudy being congradulated left and right.

A few hours later, Sam and her father were talking about the trip home when enemies of the Richard family showed up.
''Peter, I want you to meet shawn Brown. He's I disagreeistant of the Riding school achademy in Florida. We just want you to know that you have the wrong horse and that this horse is my horse! We want him back so there must have been some mistake in your thoroughbred papers. You might as well hand over your roses, money and tropheys, Mr. Richards because it now belongs to me!'' His name was Jose Roberts. Peter and Jose had been enemies since they met in college, 24 years ago.
''I'm sorry but I'm not handing anything over because I dnow my horse from top to bottom! I'm actually not surprised that you happen to be at the ecact same place as we are on the same day. I noticed that you called her a boy when she's a girl
that comes to prove that you dont know this horse.''
''Well, ah, we just wanted to check out the track and see how it works and everything! We even have orders from the chief at lexington's police headquarters!'' said Shawn.
''I would like to see it in writing then! Prove it! I want to see proof, now!!'' said Peter. ''Well?''
''Well, we just so happen to not have proof with us right now actully!''
Out of thin air, quickly, Jose and Shawn grabbed Cloudy and took off down the aisle! Then out of nowhere, Peter heard, ''Stop! Put your hands up! You will not get away this time, Jose Roberts and Shawn Michals!'' When Peter turned to see that it was the policemen, he sighed.
''Here's your horse Mr. Richards.'' said the officer.
''Thanks officer I appreciate this.'' Peter said.
''Sam, would you please take Cloudy to the trailer and wait by it until I get this all situated?''

Time went by very fast for the filly that in it seemed 2 hours they were home and she was in her own box stall. Soon she would see Samantha coming in to feed her grain, hay and apples, her special treat for winning a great race.
Sam turned around to see her father coming her way smiling. He said, ''Hey, Sam, why don't you go lounge Cloudy after a bit and make sure she's still in good shape and healthy, ok?''
''Sure,'' said Samantha.
A few hours later, Samantha grabbed the lounge line from the tack room and then went over to Cloudy's stall. Cloudy was dozing in her stall, as Samantha walked in. Cloudy woke up and winnied. Sam put her halter on and then they both walked over to the indoor arena to where they wouldn't get wet in the storm.
It was the middle of May. It was starting to get warmer everyday. The Preakness was going to be held next week and Cloudy was going to partisapate in the race. As Sam was lounging Cloudy she noticed that there was a strange looking but cute boy in the stands.
''He probably is just getting dry from the rain.'' Sam thought.
She wanted to say something but she really didn't have the nerve to say it, whatever it was.

Sam got done cleaning and exercising Cloudy so she went over to the boy. ''Hi.'' Sam said nervously.
''My name is Samantha. My friends call me Sam though. What's your name?''
''Mark, Mark Bibinski.'' He said.
''Nice to meet you. Where, I mean, do you live around here?'' Sam asked.
''Yeah, just down the block. I go to Casear High and my only horse died.'' Mark said.
Sam didn't know what to say, this boy was very talkative. ''Well, I go to Casear High, too. My horse, Cloudy just won the Kentucky Derby 2 days ago. I'm 15. How old did you say you were?'' Sam said in a cheerful voice.
''I'm 15 too. That's great that she won. I'm here because of my horse dying. My parents didn't tell me tthe doctor put him down. I just had to get away from the house. I'm sorry I ended up here.'' Mark said.
''That's alright. Would you like a ride, Mark?'' Sam asked.
''No, I really should walk. My parents are probably worried about me by now. Maybe later I take a ride because I have company coming over, too.'' Mark replied.
''Oh, is it family? Where are they from?'' Sam asked.
''Yeah, my cousin, Jessica Bibinski and her parents are coming. There from England.'' said Mark. ''Well. I better go. See ya! Maybe tomorrow or a little later I'll stop by.'' And with that Mark walked down the street to his home.
All of a sudden, Cloudy reared. Sam looked around, the gates were closed and no one that she could see was around. Cloudy reared again and galloped to the far end of the arena where before Sam's very own eyes, she jumped the fence! A big clap of lightning and thunder after it scared Cloudy again.
Sam made a dash for Cloudy. Other grooms saw the comosion and ran after Cloudy, too.

Before long, Cloudy was caught and sent to her stall immeditaly were she was checked over.
''Anything could've frightened her, you know?'' Shawn said. Shawn Tetherbunch was a groom at the stables.
''Those 2 enemies could've waved a crop in her face and then made a run for it. Or the lightening might've scared her to death to the point where she jumped the fence. We really need to know and find out soon what frightened her like that. Cloudy could've been severly hurt jumping that fence! Luckily not!!''
''But how could those 2 enemies come and wave a crop when I and Mark wher right on the stands talking?'' Sam asked.
''Anything could've happen. So we better keep her off her feet until tomorrow. And who in the world is Mark?'' Peter asked.
''Oh! Mark! He just happened to be sitting in the stands when I was working Cloudy. He said that his only horse was put to sleep without him knowing! Sam said.''
''We'll figure out who scared Cloudy somehow and soon!'' Peter murmured.
