The welcoming sky was blue and full of fluffy clouds, but on the ship flying by, no members of the crew felt like enjoying the day.
"Don't worry Mahad, we'll find your mother." Promised Cortes, he was tall, with long orange hair, tied at the back. He wore a brown, one-piece suit, which bore the symbol of Skyland. Cortes is the Captain of the St. Nazair, a well known pirate ship.
"We don't even know the location of Kharsem Prison!" Mahad complained, tensing in frustration he added, “I’m taking Lena and we're going on another scout with the Hyperion." The Hyperion is Mahad's ship; it used to belong to Marcus Farrell, his father. The hull was red, but it was grey on top, and it had the Sphere's symbol engraved on it.
"No Mahad, you've searched enough." Cortes understood his urgency but stuck by his decision. "Everyone knows that Kharsem can't be found without the exact coordinates." Kharsem is a large prison, where Oslo held the people who challenged his authority.
"You’re not my father Cortes!" Mahad turned and ran out to the Hyperion, his sister followed him out. Cortes dragged his feet as he moved toward his chair.
"When will he learn to take an order?" He questioned the twenty-year-old-girl below him. She was tall, with short blonde hair, spiked at the back. The girl wore a yellow suit.
"He’ll learn Cortes, he and Lena have been through a lot.” Dahlia calmed her captain.
“I hope you’re right Dahlia.” Cortes concluded. “I hope you’re right.

Mahad soared through clouds and dodged debris in the Hyperion, while complaining to his sister who sat beside him. “I hate it when he treats me like I’m a kid." He looked at Lena briefly then returned his attention to flying, “Why does he treat me like I’m a kid?"
"Maybe it’s because you act like one!” Lena started to laugh at her brother. This was true of course, Mahad could be very immature.
"Thank you for your support Lena," Mahad couldn't help but smile. "You've always been a great sister!"
Lena stopped teasing her brother so she could ask, “Where are we going anyway?" She looked through the glass to see if she could recognize their surroundings.
"No where in particular. I just wanted to get away from that old grouch for a while!" It was Mahad's turn to laugh.
“I’m sure Cortes isn't that old Mahad," Lena scolded her older brother. They remained silent for a little while, when suddenly out of no where an out-of-control sphere patroller crossed their path. “Mahad, watch it!" Lena shouted in surprise.
“What the-" Mahad swerved out of the way, he then turned around to watch it crash on a near by desert-like block. A black smoke flowed from the damaged vessel, “Let’s go see who's inside, shall we?"
"Here we go." Lena rolled her eyes, Mahad was well known for getting them both into dangerous situations. All thanks to his severe case of curiosity, they started towards the fallen sphere ship. When they had landed, Mahad opened the hatch and let Lena out first. Once they had both made it onto the ground, he shut the hatch again just in case. Mahad was about a foot or two taller than his sister, he wore a red outfit with bits of white. He had black, fairly tidy hair. Lena wore a red T-shirt with white overalls, with the head of a red rhino on the chest. She too, had black hair, but with two strands of hair on either side that was longer than the rest.
"Do you think they survived Mahad?" Lena asked her brother's opinion, “It was a pretty bad crash landing that they made."
“Only one way to find out," He concluded. “Come on Lena, we'll take the wide way around to sneak up from behind.
As they disappeared into the long dead grass surrounding the Hyperion, they ducked low so that their heads could not be seen. Slowly approaching the Sphere ship, Mahad held out his arm to stop his sister.
“Wait for my signal Lena." He continued on his own, his boomerang was out, he was prepared for anything. When he had reached the vessel he circled around it carefully and peered inside, then he lowered his weapon and stood up straight. “There is no one here!" he called to Lena, “And the system is fried," Mahad jogged back over to where his sister stood waiting. “We won't be able to program Kharsem’s coordinates from this patroller." Disappointed, they headed back to the location of the Hyperion.
"I don't get it Mahad, how can there be no one inside?" Lena was confused, but somehow she didn't expect an answer from Mahad.
“Well, it would explain why it crashed." Mahad told Lena with a smile on his face.
"Very funny Mahad," She smiled back. “But I’m serious."
“I know, Lena, but I’m just as confused as you-" Mahad stopped in his tracks, “That might be the answer to your question." He was staring ahead. Lena followed his gaze, they were looking into the eyes of a girl. She was covered in mud; her Sphere uniform was hardly recognizable. She was holding something in her left hand, “Hey! That's the picture of our parents!" Mahad yelled at her without thinking. The stranger jumped back into reality and she turned to run. “No you don't," Mahad started to run at her as fast as he could. He saw her lose her footing. When she tripped, she landed on her hands and knees, and struggled to get back up again. When she was on her feet once more she turned to face Mahad and Lena, she was surprised to see Mahad right in front of her. Mahad threw all his weight into her; he took her into a roll across the dirt and stones. He grabbed her wrists and held her down; he waited for Lena to catch up before saying anything else.
"Who are you?" He questioned her forcefully, still catching his breath.
“Are you a guardian?" Lena asked, a guardian is a saijin that worked for the Sphere. The girl looked up at her, she seemed to be in pain, but she shook her head. “Then why do you work for the Sphere?" Lena asked her again.
“I’m a mechanic, and engineer." The girl gasped, but she spoke too quietly. Mahad looked up at Lena.
“What did she say?" He asked his sister, he was puzzled, she shouldn't be this worn out already.
Lena shrugged and turned back to the girl on the ground. “Why do you work for the Sphere?" She asked her again.
“Oslo...promised...Hyperion...my mother." She continued to whisper, it was too broken up; Mahad only caught a few words.
“She said something about Oslo and the Hyperion?" Mahad got up off the ground. "Maybe we should take her back to Cortes."
When the girl heard this, her eyes opened wide and she tried to get up and escape, but her weak legs trembled, she fell once again. This time she didn't move.
Lena knelt down beside her, “She fainted, Mahad."
"Good, now it will be easier to take her back." Mahad concluded. So he bent down and put an arm under her head, then another under her knees, then he picked her up. "Grab the picture Lena." He told his sister.
Lena took the picture of her father Marcus Farrell and her Mother Mila. She missed her mom so much; she knew that they would be together again. “Why would she take this, Mahad?"
“I guess we'll find out soon." Mahad was glancing down at the girl. He couldn't see any of her facial features, she was too muddy.
