My grandmother showed me this this morning, and I thought it was really cute.
People here in Tennessee have trouble with all those "shalts" and "shall nots" in the Ten Commandments. It seems folks here just aren't used to talking in those terms. So, some folks in Tennessee got together and translated the "King James" into "Possum County" language for all southerners to understand!
The Southerner's Ten Commandments"
1) Just one God 2) Honor yer Ma & Pa 3) No tellin' tales or gossipin'. 4) Git yourself to Sunday meetin'. 5) Put nothin' before God. 6) No foolin' around with another fellow's gal. 7) No killin'. 8) Watch yer mouth. 9) Don't take what ain't yers. 10) Don't be hankerin' for yer buddy's stuff.
Now that's kinda plain an' simple, don't ya think?
I thought that was really funny, lol!

If you see a true Southern person who does fit the discription of the steriotipical southerner than they would actually talk that way. Just because she posted it doesn't mean that she believes in the steriotype, it just means that she thought it was cute and wanted to share it with others.

Hahaha that's pretty funny... and we DO have stereotypes for a reason lol...
I'm Welsh and people take the piss outta the Welsh all the time, I don't find it particularly insulting because it's a trait of every culture.
And on the topic of the Ten Commandments, has anyone else noticed that the order the commandments are put in differ between religions...
Example: Thou shalt not steal is 8th for Jewish, Anglican Reformed and other orthodox christians, but it's 7th for Roman Catholic.
Also for every religion that uses the commandments the sixth commanment is 'Thou shalt not murder' but the Roman Catholics have it as their fifth commandment and have it as the less specific 'Thou shalt not kill'...
I'm not having a go at anything, just wondering if anyone else has noticed this and wondering what you think of it...
